"We wrote in November that a bill to strip Michigan voters of the ability to vote straight ticket was beneath the dignity of the Legislature. In hindsight, we over-estimated the Legislature.
The Republicans in control of that once august body seem to draw from a bottomless well of contempt for the democratic process and the people they are supposed to serve."
As of this posting the governor has not signed this bill into law. If he remains true to form, he will sign it. On the other hand if he gets enough pressure from citizens, he may do what's right.

I just called the office and talked to a polite young man named Jason. Asked him if he would tell the governor to veto senate bill 13. He politely told me he would pass this on to the governor and thanked me for calling.
