FAQ About the Lieberman-Collins Cybersecurity Act

The bill lets companies give out information which indicates a technical vulnerability.

So a private security company can tell your hospital:

"We need John Smith's medical records because we think a hacker tampered with them," and the hospital can give it to them.

Or tell your bank, "we need John Smith's password because we think a hacker stole it," and your bank can give it to them.

The private security company may be lying, but the company which violated your privacy is protected by "good faith" and the fact that it doesn't have to tell you that it gave out your information.

Please tell your Senators to protect privacy by opposing the Lieberman-Collins "Cybersecurity Act of 2012."
