First, the jobs numbers can't be helped. Obama did save us from depression and then the GOP sabotaged the economy during the debt fight and in their constant insistence on budget cuts to get anything done. Anybody knows you don't cut the budget and spending during a time when the economy is in recession or in a unstable recovery. The fact is if the jobs picture doesn't improve much in the next five months, the president will be running with an unemployment rate higher than what Jimmy Carter ran on in 1980. The uninformed voter will allow history to repeat itself and be williing to listen to Mittens and return to Bush policies.
Second, our side keeps getting off message! The president has every right to hit Romney hard on his record at Bain Capital and yet we have 'surrogates' like Mayor Booker, Ex-Governor Ed Rendell and now EX-PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON on record saying that we shouldn't be attacking poor Mittens on Bain and Clinton even saying he did 'Sterling' work there! Give me a break!
The media and Romney will eat this up. You can bet Romney will produce an ad with Clinton's quote. Thanks Bill!!
Third, Unlike 2008 Obama isn't going to have a big financial advantage. In fact, Mitten's thanks to his Billionaire fan club and Super Pacs will probably out spend the president and distort his record.
Fourth, I don't feel that our response from the Obama team has been as strong or as quick as I've been seeing with the Romney team--or else the media isn't reporting on it.
That said The President must win. He is the only thing we have to protect this country from a GOP president and GOP congress which will have a field day cutting programs for the poor and trashing the environment and enriching the corporations and millionaires even more. But they gotta get the Democrats on message and begin a much more aggressive campaign against Mittens. I want to see ads showing his GOP rivals attacking Mittens on Bain. We need to keep the heat on Romney constantly. The Administration needs to be stronger in defending their record 'Yes, we aren't yet where we want to be on jobs but look at where we were and if you give me a Democratic Congress this is what we can do in the next four years.'
While were at it we need to give the president all the help we can organizing and financial--

(45,515 posts)You are following the campaign almost at the level of an insider. The average voter never hears that stuff. Whatever Clinton says will be reduced down to "Clinton campaigned for Barrett" before it is filtered out to the general public. What Bill says or doesn't say will not matter in the grand scheme of things. The country remembering the prosperity during Clinton administration will equal a net benefit for Barrett.
Ever heard the expression, "Damn with faint praise"?
The key to winning these elections is GOTV. Make it happen.

(90,348 posts)...under the tree where a young black man was hung preaching states rights...there couldn't have been a more racist move and he the media and the DNC paid little attention to it.
Right now rMoney can pore gasoline on a baby kitten and it wouldn't get peoples attention..
Obama campaign is doing the right thing in making rMoney defend both his records early though cause those can be wash rinsed and repeated if they work...
