(7,917 posts)I haven't had any problems since I switched. The story goes that Adblock was bought out by an anonymous player. Not long after that time there have been odd problems like the one you mention above. I can't confirm who bought it.
It appears that someone like Google is the likely buyer. Google and others were paying Adblock Plus to white-list their ads. http://techcrunch.com/2013/07/06/google-and-others-reportedly-pay-adblock-plus-to-show-you-ads-anyway/
Its been posted that so-called "acceptable ads" function was enabled by the new owner of the Adblock tool. That is probably what you saw.
You need to disable and remove the Adblock extension if you have it. Then install Ublock. That should fix your problems.
