Regarding drinking Kool-Aid, though, the GOP establishment is EXTREMELY powerful and EXTREMELY well funded.
The truth is what it is, and no general ever won by assuming his enemies were far weaker than they were.

(65,490 posts)GOP votes, which prevents Bush, Rubio or Kasich (or anyone else who might be able to hide their similarity to Cruz and Trump and thus appeal to Independents or crossovers) from getting enough votes to secure the nomination. The "moderate" GOP candidates can often fool less attentive voters, so I want the GOP to have a candidate whose outrageousness cannot be masked.

1/3 Cruz (I think he will ultimately get Carson's voters)
1/3 "Sane" candidate(s)
A recent article talked about how Trump has a real delegate advantage early because of the way the assignment of delegates goes. The 1/3 support can actually translate to over 40% of the delegates - a clear plurality going into the convention.

Besides, so many of the people in the (political) arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this, this is working very well for them.
