Obama says he doesn't yearn for third term

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says he wouldn't run for a third term even if he could. He says the presidency takes a toll on family life, and the office "should be continually renewed by new energy and new ideas."

Obama says in an interview airing on CBS he's not yearning for a third term is because he's confident that things are lot better in the United States than when he came into office.

2. I wish he'd take one anyway. None of the 2016 candidates are as intelligent or humane.

And I'd love to see what Obama would do with real domestic power.

7. That's probably the dumbest anti-Obama meme of all time.

The meme is that Obama is now going to cash in from the banks now that his presidency is over. Right? You do know that Obama was Editor of the Harvard Law Review, right? You do know that it means that he could work for any Wall Street law firm in the country and would have been a shoo-in to make partner or go work directly for a big Wall Street bank or Hedge fund. Right? If he really wanted to cash-in, there was a much easier, more certain path than the one he chose.

he will be succeeded by a Democrat who will build on and further what he has achieved.

I'm very interested in what Obama will do eventually, though. He's still young, still has the heart of one who became a neighborhood organizer instead of heading for Wall Street wealth, and now is positioned to accomplish really great things outside the White House.

We're developing a Democratic tradition here, as healthy lifetimes lengthen, of important contributions AFTER the presidency. President Carter, President Clinton, and soon President Obama.

They make me feel proud all over again to be a Democrat.

I wouldn't want an Obama third term. Or a third GHWB term. Or a third GWB term. Glad there are term limits for president.
