Isn't Donald Trump just the logical extension of Sarah Palin?

She was a know-nothing, he's a know-nothing (although I assume he knows more than he pretends to).

She made shit up as she went along, so does he.

She exaggerated, never let facts get in her way, & he exaggerates, never lets facts get in his way.

Once you raise to the level of presidential (or vice presidential) contender someone who is essentially a hateful idiot, I would think that it's just a matter of degree for future contenders.

People should stop being so shocked by Trump. Angry, disgusted, and appalled by Trump, yes. But shocked? No.

Much like Sanders is the manifestation of anger for those left of center....both are popular as punishment to their respective sides of the center....

You don't remember how angry people were about the economic crisis in 2008? People didn't just get angry overnight ,you know.

And no, Sanders is not equivalent to Trump. He doesn't preach hate.

And seems to recognize that, if the HBO movie is to be believed.

He used to be well-respected on the left and the right. Today, he's sort of the cranky old man of the Senate, telling every one to get off his lawn. The Palin choice will have a permanent, negative impact on his legacy.

I would have voted for McCain in 2000 because of his Navy service (I'm a vet) and because of my disgust with Bill Clinton. I liked Gore but I wanted something different. I ended up voting for Gore anyway because GWB was an idiot.

I like John McCain. I have no respect for him though. Not after Palin and all that she brought into politics. 2000 was the last time I thought about voting for a Republican as well.

I lost it mostly when he started pandering to the Religious right, visiting Liberty U and courting televangelists.

He should have left the scene long before he elevated Sarah and her Tea Party acolytes.

I have spent 7 years thinking that the end product was George W Bush*. I stand corrected.

Under Reagan we were taught to hate the Communists, Blacks, Gays, and Immigrants. We have grown to hate the Muslims, Liberals, Blacks, Gays and Immigrants. Reagan and his staff coded hate speech carefully. Palin tried to code it but was not bright enough, so what we got was word salad. Trump just states it plain in the full light of day. I am convinced he is the end product, 40 years in the making.

Reagan also taught us to hate our government. The Bundy's come to mind.

In the addled brains of the RW Trumplodytes, electing an asshole Billionaire is the way to rein in the government and the billionaire class. He'll do neither.

That we have both Trump and the Bundys at the same time suggests the full flowering of the movement.
