I just knew that God said, Go, said Jernigan, a Christian missionary. He didnt say how to go, or why to go, he just said go. ...
... I am here strictly to bring people to salvation if that is Gods will, she said. She sang hymns while running the vacuum cleaner through the common areas and said she hopes to organize a regular Bible study.
"I was always taught that cleanliness is next to Godliness," says Kristi Jernigan. She says the women sweep and mop the refuge bunkhouse twice daily.
Like most of the women, Jernigan said she was not worried about being arrested. God would not ask me to do something if he wasnt going to protect me, she said.

(13,259 posts)Everything taken care of for them, by friendly, uncomplaining, admiring women. It's a dream come true.

For the women, that hard stand comes by way of peeling potatoes and sorting laundry.
While the men militants give the press briefings, lecture reporters on the constitution, and stand guard with semi-automatic rifles, the women sort incoming supplies, make giant pots of chili and wash clothes. The kitchen is the social hub of their occupation. They sing, lounge on couches and share stories in the bunkhouse that once housed seasonal wildlife refuge volunteers. The women tend to be pro-gun rights and anti-federal government, but unlike the men, you rarely see them armed.
They see themselves as vital support for the armed men guarding the complex.
They need women here. These guys go out there and sit in this cold, in two degrees. Theyre out there protecting me, said Melissa Cooper, a former warehouse worker and mother of three from Arizona. Shes here with husband Blaine Cooper, who is often at militia leader Ammon Bundys side in camouflage fatigues.

(70,708 posts)Besides yelling "Benghazi!1" all the time, they constantly demand that the president say the words "radical Islam" so, if they're saying anything at all about Malheur, they should be saying: RADICAL MORMONS.

If the kids are there, they'd be put down to, so they aren't raised by another man in the house.
It's all about posession and control.

(38,317 posts)Seriously. My great grandmas were all very very scary women. The sort who could kill a bad man and depend upon the county coroner-sheriff to clean up the mess and file the proper paperwork.
My last female immigrant-to-the-U.S.A.-ancestor was a mail order bride to Salt Lake City from Scandinavia. She didn't like sharing a husband so instead of killing him (as was probably her family tradition) she ran away with a monogamous U.S. government surveyor. He knew trigonometry and stuff. He wooed her with science.
This is a photo of my sweetest great grandma, not of the deadlier lines, of more civilized origins. When she wasn't being a miner's wife in Mormon territory, she was a poet.
My scariest great grandma could turn freshly dead fish, fowl, and small mammals into dinner for a dozen or more people faster than I could comprehend the movement of the knife in her hands. Same grandma who thought rabbit was an appropriate Easter feast... Yep, we ate the Easter Bunny. Santa's deer were probably fair game too.
