Oregon standoff: Final 5 say they will leave if the FBI agrees not to arrest them

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-sej-oregon-standoff-final-5-20160128-story.html

Funny how that works guys. You break the law, you subject yourself to possible arrest. You do not get to negotiate over whether or not you get arrested. You might get to negotiate with a prosecutor over what you are actually charged with, but guess what - law enforcement does not really have a choice - if they have probable cause they have to arrest you or they are not doing their jobs.

I can only venture a guess. They (bundy's) were looking to incite violence and the FBI along with local officials did not take their bait-in fact - seemed to ignore them-Maddening Bundy's even further. Many Oregonians and others from all around the country wanted swifter action-myself included.
A lot more people could have been harmed had they taken Bundy's baiting seriously. A lot more people, could have been harmed had the FBI taken advice from those like me-without LE experience who wanted swift and immediate action....
In retrospect, considering the volatility of this whole thing, they did the right thing. There was little human harm. Now it's time to roll our sleeves up, collectively, and see how we can help clean up and restore the material things that were damaged.
I think most folks living in this community and Oregon as well..are relieved that this is winding down. I know I am. The locals, I'm sure are looking forward to getting back to their normal routines. It's gonna take awhile to truly get this behind them...understandably.
just my opinion

From the article linked above.

Sean could be heard explaining in the video that he had been there four times for two or three days each during the occupation, while Fry noted that some others who were allowed to leave were there “for weeks.”

Let me guess, Sean was stupid enough to act in a manner which have allowed the Feds to add him to the list of those to be charged. I am thinking that the other 4 didn't do anything on social media, online, or at the site which could link them to an easily chargeable offense.

I guess we can put it down to either his youth or that he is a beer short of a sixpack. Obviously the Feds are more interested in what you did and said rather than how long you were there. Besides, what Fry doesn't seem to understand is that just because they get let go now without being arrested doesn't mean they won't be arrested later once the Feds tear apart that place and add up all of the evidence.

Oops, from what was reported last night,he said he was cold tired and hungry and couldn't go any more. And he did not want to die. The Feds had this place so surrounded, you think for one minute anyone was going to just walk out the back way, not. Understand the folks who left yesterday had to go through a FBI check point and you know they have every piece of information necessary if they need to find them later. Notice the Judge in Portland put a hold on the ones in custard due to flight risk. No bail baby.

And his Sister threatened a Channel 8 News crew who were stopped at the Bundy Driveway seeking a comment from the Demented Senior Bundy(BTW,this guy is for real yes),she was going home to get her gun and shoot them. Needless to say,the News Crew bailed into Mesquite to do their stand up for the 6 pm show.

I've been reading reports of some personal strongarming going on in Burns, aimed at a person identified as "BLM" in one case, and there's an ugly mood among some still out there and not directly identified as linked to the occupation. Some of it's encouraged by the idea, fanned by some irresponsible media, that Finicum was mown down while surrendering, some of it's more complex than that and feeds into long-term resentment.

Looks like some of the militias and local hotheads are pissed at the Bundy crew for blowing this, and their cover - as if the feds haven't been onto them for a long time, as they're far from subtle.

Added to that, whether this humiliation will be seen as sticking to Bundy's crew or extending to the whole movement, it likely won't be over once the last stragglers leave the "siege." And future negotiations will be harder if bargains aren't seen as being kept and the idea catches hold that there's no point in surrendering because you're dead anyway. I imagine that's all part of the calculations the authorities have been making in their response.

All in all, it looks like it's been a very effective honeypot, whether that was just another FBI ruse as they bided their time, or just a lucky accident for them. We'll have to wait and see whether they're prepared for any retaliations etc.

observation. After the debacle in Bunkerville, which seemed to end when the City of Mesquite and their Casino's lost their asses and called for a end of the farce, there are still tensions both in Vegas and the Mesquite areas. There will be some type of consequences for the Players and Wannabes still associated with Bundy and his relatives. It was a embarrassment for the Clark County(Metro)Sheriff's Department and there have been statements from the new Sheriff that they will move on these.

Right now this land thing is a hot button topic with the Utah and Nevada Republican Congresspersons. These folks are fanning the flames of distrust big time. And there is this issue of Politicians and Relatives and family ties seem to be in play.

As for the BLM folks, never meet or worked with one who was a BadAss or a fake.

If he had any balls and any self respect he would give up so that the other three could leave also. Either they have something on you Sean or they don't. If you can make your case, a prosecutor just might decide to drop the charges. But you can't get there from here without going throw that checkpoint and possibly getting arrested.

Thu Jan 28, 2016, 03:47 PM

Check out these lines from Goethe's Faust II.i.2 and see if we haven't been witnessing this very thing right now.

Chancellor:
Justice! – All men love and prize it,
What all ask, yet wish they could do without,
The people look to him to hand it out. (him is the Emperor)
But ah! What help can human wit deliver,
Or kindly heart, or willing hand, if fever
Rages wildly through the state, and evil
Itself is broodingly preparing evil?
Look about, from this height’s extreme,
Across the realm: it seems like some bad dream,
Where one deformity acts on another,
Where lawlessness by law is furthered,
And an age of crime is discovered.
Here one steals cattle, there, a wife,
Cross, cup and candlestick, from the altar,
And boasts of it for many a year,
His skin’s intact, and so’s his life.

He is the reason they are still there. Fry boy is insisting that they all go without arrest. Sean is claiming he shouldn't be arrested based on the reasoning that others who were there longer got to leave without being arrested. Logic not a strong point with the stragglers any more than the Bundy Bros.

That means arrest the people who they have a really solid case on now. Later on they go after anybody that they can make a case on once they process the refuge and go over the huge volume of incriminating evidence the yahoos put out on on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube), interviews, and vidoes of them doing illegal acts. They are not the brightest bulbs in the garden.

Oregon Occupiers to Face Charges When Siege Ends
by TONY DOKOUPIL and CORKY SIEMASZKO
The anti-government activists who took over a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon are going to face federal charges when the siege is over, the local sheriff told NBC News on Wednesday. "The (FBI) has assured me that those at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge will at some point face charges," Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward told NBC ...
