(51,308 posts)Rock and roll lifestyle takes a toll on a person.
Hell, my mom is 89, and two of the others in her bridge group are older than her.
So THAT generation is still hanging in there too.
Your comment just makes no sense.
Is that ever the truth! Two of my late parents best friends are still around -- both are in their late 90's!

Mendocino
(7,496 posts)no politics or religion in any part of his performance. I talked to him briefly afterward, he was genuine and perfectly friendly.

(8,965 posts)And it's certainly to his credit that he chooses not to push his religious right-wing views in public performances, but in interviews he has presented a somewhat different picture: Blatantly homophobic, and sympathetic to what Ted Nugent is saying and doing.

(20,876 posts)It was a lot easier to score tickets to see them v. The Grateful Dead for example.
I liked them a lot and was at a point in my life that was unique when they came out as the Jefferson Starship.
If only you believe in miracles ...
Yeah I did and I'm shocked, yes shocked to hear about Paul's death.
They left us with a lot from Woodstock ----> today.
Its quickly becoming a "who's next" scenario. Watching people die that I've followed for many years of my life is ummm .... kinda disturbing is but one word for it I suppose.
RIP PAUL KANTNER!

(13,869 posts)The musician had been in ill health in recent years, with Kantner suffering a heart attack in March 2015, according to the paper.
With Jefferson Airplane, Kantner helped pioneer the oft-imitated psychedelic sound: simple, fuzzy guitar lines steeped in dreamlike reverb. The group formed in 1965 and, within a few years, scored hits with "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit." In their first run, five of the band's seven albums went gold, including 1967's Surrealistic Pillow and 1968's Crown of Creation.

Paul Kantner once told me the he and Heinlein were good friends I knew Paul many years ago. He was a complete gentleman.

I have just read about the sad news regarding Ms. Signe Anderson Ettlin, who passed away the same day as Mr. Kantner.

I thought the world of Jefferson Airplane and later Starship. Seeing how Frank Carlucci has floated the idea of escape ships for the wealthy, the idea for hijacking a starship might make an outstanding film.

Regarding Mr. Heinlein: Not many thanked him for his inspiration.
