Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley: “the gears are still turning on possible indictments for Nevada.”

Militia at Malheur: ‘Virus was spreading
A total of 11 people face federal charges so far in the Malheur takeover
KOIN 6 News Staff Published: January 29, 2016

.... Earlier this week the two senators met with FBI Director James Comey and talked about the situation just a few hours before the arrests were made.

Wyden said the standoff was “a situation where the virus was spreading,” and action needed to be taken.

“What we were struck by is that there is a clear understanding that there’s got to be accountability and there have to be consequences,” he said. “Too often in the past that’s not been the case.” ....

As an Oregonian, frankly, I got real pissed off when they targeted Oregon and Malheur. And then to think they had a militia in place to take over, organized by the Oregon Republican Party Chair. These fools had no idea how many keyboards would fight back.[center]

Instances where a criminal conspiracy appears to have occurred across state lines, in Nevada plus seizure of federal property in Oregon and the Utah trail defiance, with incidents connected and one or more principals involved are the same in the connected incidents, then can't one make the case for a criminal enterprise as defined under RICO statute? #CowboyMobsters seems applicable, they are deploying as armed mobs.

Part of the criminal enterprise would be grazing without paying, so I imagine all the property and cattle can be confiscated under RICO. Also, Ryan Bundy wasn't charged in Utah with the others even though he was the person who was leading the call to enter when Lyman wanted to stop. Bundy literally ensured Lyman would be prosecuted, yet he wasn't, so I infer he is the subject of another grand jury that has yet to indict.

LaVoy's place is on a rural road, Cane Beds, just SE of town near Centennial Park, one of the plural marriage fundamentalist offshots. This is the ambient culture, even for those who are not involved in the sects. Outsiders are shunned and discriminated against. The city was sued for denying water and other services to people not in the church and lost 5 million for religious discrimination. These people were in the news when I was in AZ.

Centennial Park group " is a fundamentalist Mormon group,[1] with approximately 1,500 members that is headquartered in Centennial Park, Arizona. The Centennial Park group broke with Leroy S. Johnson, leader and senior member of the Priesthood Council of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS Church), in the early 1980s. There is no formal relationship between the FLDS Church and the Centennial Park community.[2][3] The group is also known as the "Second Ward", "The Work of Jesus Christ" and "The Work".

The Centennial Park group was profiled on the ABC television program Primetime in a story entitled "The Outsiders", and also on The Oprah Winfrey Network's Our America with Lisa Ling. It was also featured in Dawn Porter's television documentary, Dawn Porter: Extreme Wife and on the National Geographic Channel series Polygamy, USA.[4]

Hildale is a twin city to the better-known Colorado City, Arizona, which together straddle the border between Utah and Arizona. Hildale is the headquarters of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Many adults in the community practice plural marriage. The United Effort Plan, the financial arm of the FLDS owns most of the property in the city. Since most government officials — including the police force — are FLDS members, some critics have likened the community's atmosphere to that of a prison. .....

Oregon Militant LaVoy Finicum Isn’t a Heroic Martyr, He’s Just a Dead Idiot
Chez Pazienza on January 27, 2016

There was always one thing federal agents had in abundance that absolutely no one in the Bundy militia did: intelligence. That’s why late yesterday as the Bundy boys and the rest of the major players in their little revolution cosplay caravanned off to set up a “shadow government” in a nearby county, the FBI moved in. ....

“I have no intention of spending any of my days in a concrete box,” he had said, sitting next to the blue tarp under which was his part-time home since arriving in Oregon. In other words, it was obvious from the beginning — because he’d stated as much — that if cornered, LaVoy Finicum would go down fighting. So, put all of this together and it leads us to one conclusion: LaVoy Finicum is dead because he’s an idiot who engaged in an armed takeover of land that wasn’t his and then refused to be taken into custody when the FBI decided it had finally had enough of this shit. .........

Sagebrush Genocide? Bundyism And The Native American Holocaust
By Matt Osborne on January 26, 2016 Racial Divide

This is the second installment in a three-part series that examines extremist elements connected to the takeover of the Malheur Refuge in Oregon. Part I focused on the long history of white supremacists in the ‘patriot’ militia movement.

In 2014, just weeks after Cliven Bundy’s trespassing cattle became a new rallying point for the so-called ‘patriot’ militia movement and galvanized the latest ‘land use’ uprising in the American west, his son Ryan showed up at Recapture Canyon with his family, his flag, and a four-wheeled ATV.

Bundy was taking part in an event organized by San Juan County Commissioner Phil Lyman and other local residents against the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM), which banned motor vehicles from the canyon to protect Native American archaeological sites in 2007. At issue was a 7-mile-long, 4-foot-wide trail cutting through midden heaps, graves, home sites, and other artifacts of the Puebloan people who lived in that corner of Utah a millennium ago.

There are more than 2,800 miles of trails on BLM-controlled land available for off-road vehicle recreation around the town of Blanding, but Lyman and his local supporters were adamant about reopening this one, and they denounced the federal government for overreaching by not letting them ride it.

Meanwhile, Ryan Bundy and his friends had their own agenda. They were uninterested in Lyman or the people of San Juan County except as a recruiting pool ......
