NOTES FROM THE FRONTLINE

NOTES FROM THE FRONT: Crossed the border into Wisconsin from Illinois to help out with the Recall, canvassing door-to-door.

Enthusiasm couldn't be higher from both the folks working on Tom Barrett's campaign for Governor, or from the voters, themselves. Wisconsin voters can't wait to go to the polls and toss the Koch fiend out on his ass.

At some of the houses we canvassed, Wisconsintes were literally in tears when they realized that democrats from out-of-state had come to rescue them from the diluge of out-of-state Republican money: their emotion was very visible and not unlike homesteaders getting down on their knees hearing the bugle call with the approach of the cavalry...

both for the sakes of Wisconsonites who don't deserve that bastard and to slap the faces of the Koch brothers, men who have richly deserved a good slapping for decades.

In fact, I want to see such men break themselves on the futile attempt to buy elections when people have simply had enough of dogma that is killing them.

I canvassed two neighborhoods in Madison, and while Madison is probably safe Barrett territory, one of the neighborhoods we walked went to Walker the last time around. In all of the homes we went to, I think there may have been two that were hostile to Barrett representatives, and another four that still supported the Governor.

Every other house we went to suppported the recall.

EVERY ONE.

What we were doing was what they called "blind" canvassing: we had info on the registered democrats residing in the two wards we went to, but we weren't knocking on just their doors - we were knocking on ALL of 'em.

And that means we were knocking on Republican doors.

To have less than 8 households out of the two wards turn us away gives me the hope that some of the more odious polls out there are DEAD wrong.

Scott Olsen in Oakland, for the focus. Thanks for thinking of that.

Love and strength to Wisconsin.

special I want to happen. Usually for good reasons. On and off during the day I say a fast little prayer. If many of us light that candle it just might work.

Your comment reeked of sarcasm. Pardon me if I'm wrong about that, and stop reading now, 'cause I'm gonna get rude.

Of Scott Walkers top 10 campaign contributers only three are Wisconsin residents.

If you have a problem with living, breathing, US citizens who are not Wisconsin residents chiming in on what happens in Wisconsin next Tuesday, you should have stood up when all of Scott Walker's outside money started to pour in.

You might reply that "two wrongs don't make a right" but I say that I have a right to free speech - even as an Illinois resident - while Koch Industries DOES NOT.

Both supported Barrett and Mitchell. No one from Walker came by. Why? Because he has little grass roots support. But the support he has does vote for some reason. They just don't do much in the way of protest and canvasing.
