1. It's probably 'cause Colbert is on the Comedy channel. It probably doesn't pay as much

But Stewart has been on much longer and I think also had a hand in getting Colbert his show, as well Colbert hasn't had his show as long as Stewart.

3. Stewart owns the Colbert Report. He started it. Does Stewart get paid more than Fallon?

I see that he does.

Look at the ratings. That's what drives pay. Comedy Central watchers are fewe. Fallon is on basic cable. Anyone with a tv can get his show. Fallon's also had his show longer than Colbert, hasn't he?

Stewart is more than a host. He's on a level of Letterman and Leno; he's a household name. Colbert is extremely popular, but he's not as big a star as Stewart or Letterman or Leno.

I'm glad that Letterman is at the top, and especially that he gets paid more than Leno. Sweet, after Leno's network screwed Letterman.

I'm not losing a lot of sleep about his hardship of having to scrape by on a mere four million.

It's quite amazing that Letterman gets paid so much for his lame schtick. Probably five minutes of armpit farts would be funnier that an average Letterman monologue. Sometimes I watch him if he has a good guest on. Usually I am willing to tell everything after two minutes of the torture of watching his monologue. Waterboarding would be kinder.

5. I think Letterman stayed on so long because he has such a young child

He might have retired sooner had Harry not happened

I also think that he wants to see Leno go before he does

I prefer Craig Ferguson these days.. and I think he will step in once letterman does retire. I doubt that Dave would do to him, what NBC did to Dave.
