Remember though Dems need one seat among the other recalls and the legislative branch switches.

(5,668 posts)yeah but there'll be the question of Scott the bot wins. is it worth it or was worth it... well if we pick up a seat hell yes it was worth it and odds are more than generous on that. That and he'll probably be charged with corruption if he does win. then it becomes expensive.

(71 posts)ABC just announced (5 minutes ago) that polls show Walker winning out right. I recall faux news stating that despite a 55 to 45% exit poll data during Bush vs. Gore, in favor of Gore winning in Florida, polls can not be taken seriously. I wonder why we are supposed to take ABC's poll serious?

(338 posts)Another day, another poll:
By Rachel Rose Hartman
June 4, 2012
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker maintains a narrow lead in his recall election, but his standing has diminished in recent weeks, according to a new poll released on the eve of the election.
Walker leads Democratic challenger Tom Barrett, the mayor of Milwaukee, by just 3 percentage points in a new survey of likely voters ( pdf) conducted by Public Policy Polling. Walker leads Barrett 50 to 47 percent, down from the 50 to 45 percent matchup PPP found in a poll conducted three weeks ago. The margin of error for this week's poll is plus or minus 2.8 percent.

As noted, Walker wins by one vote, the Scarboros of the world will have their righteous snark on.
He loses, it will be dismissed on the rare moments it is mentioned.

I've seen reports of polls showing Walker with a comfortable margin, but that was about a month ago and all he's gotten is bad news since. Still, the last polls I've seen have him about even.
Of course, I think he should be recalled, then tarred and feathered with the Koch brothers. Then we'll work on criminal indictments. But I digress.
Why does CBS say that?

Walker did terrible in the debates and Barrett was very good. We know of one person who watched Walker's performance and decided to vote against him because of it. How many more are there like her.
Boy we sure hope we can stop this man.

(10,168 posts)I worked the phones today for 2 1/2--3 hours calling people who are not "regular" voters and I was pleasantly surprised by the response. Besides election fatigue, many I called were excited to vote for Tom Barrett or against Walker. A few hung up on me, but only about four out of about 100. Again. My list was of people that only usually vote for the President at most.
I'm excited!
iemitsu
(3,888 posts)anecdotal but just the sort of story that could spell trouble for walker.
i hope others calling had the same experience and that everyone in the state with brains gets to the voting booth on tuesday (or before).

(51,129 posts)That, of course, is one of two possible lessons:
1.) Don't let them cheat and steal votes, or
2.) Get out the vote in the City of Milwaukee.
Some will remember the Milwaukee Anomaly, a huge red shift in the very bluest part of the state while the rest of WI shifted blue.
Did the blue voters stay home only in Milwaukee, or did someone rig the election in Democrat-rich Milwaukee?
http://jqjacobs.net/politics/spreadsheets.html#wisconsin
If they want to win this one, Milwaukee is where they have to focus either a powerful get out the vote effort or a high level of scrutiny. I recommend BOTH!

(3,003 posts)The PPP (a Democratic poll) taken over the weekend (June 2-3) has Walker leading 50% to 47% (sample was of 1,200 likely voters). I don't think Barrett is going to make it. What's sad is that this recall was a HUGE gamble: winning it would be great, but if we lose the ramifications could be catastrophic:
1) Obama would be very vulnerable in a state that he cannot afford to lose. If Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes go to Romney and Obama loses the election while winning between 260 and 269 electoral votes (just shy of the 270 needed to win) we'll ALL be kicking ourselves for this recall.
2) A Walker victory will embolden other Republican governors and legislatures across the country to end collective bargaining in their states which will essentially destroy unions--the only organized group powerful enough to match corporate $ in the post-Citizens United era.
Damn.

IF Walker also has to be charged in an investigation that isn't going to go well either.

(338 posts)If a candidate consistently polls at or above 50%, it means that even if the undecideds go the other way, the candidate has the election in the bag. Consistent polls at 50%+ also reduce the likelihood of polling error (i.e., one poll could be an outlier, but multiple polls aren't likely to all be outliers in the same direction).
"Dewey Defeats Truman" isn't impossible, but it is highly unlikely in this day and age, where polling is sophisticated and continues up to election eve.

Could simply indicates possibility, not probability, and definitely not certainty. The polls are close (Walker +3, according to a recent survey), so any outcome is still possible.
My guess is he'll be retained by 1 or 2 points.
