Bush Campaign Sources: Campaign Out of Money. Pay Ends Saturday.

By Erick Erickson

This is pretty remarkable. Sources close to the Bush campaign are beginning to leak about a call last night. I’m told the Bush team is out of money. Pay for campaign staff will end on Saturday. The campaign is all but over.

Additionally, after having hundreds of millions of dollars on hand, the Bush Super PAC has less than $15 million from what I am being told.

What a waste.

Ironically, if Bush really wants to have an impact on the race, given that his campaign is broke, he should publicly get out of the race today. This would be like Rich Perry in 2012, who got out, cast his support to Gingrich at the last minute, and saw Gingrich storm into first place in South Carolina.

For all intents and purposes, Bush's campaign should have ended after N.H. like Christie's. He just hung on so that high paid staffers and consultants could get as many pay days as they could.

than to admit that their own candidacy is a lost cause. The "establishment" buffoons would rather tear each other down than work together. Pretty emblematic of the entire problem with the GOP mentality and it's a beautiful that this will be their downfall (though, truth be told, the end was in the cards anyway). Meanwhile, we saw Biden opt not to enter the Democratic race. A decision that I am sure was at least partly based on how contentious the race would have become if he had.

Our best chance in November is against Trump or Cruz. The longer there's more than one viable establishment candidate, the less chance there is that enough support will coalesce behind any one of them.

Notable is Florida's primary on March 15. On the GOP side, it's a winner-take-all fight for the third-largest trove of delegates. Trump has a good chance of winning it, and that chance is increased if Bush is still in the race, even if he's peeling off only 5% of the vote.

Erick "Son of Erick" Erickson thinks this was a waste? Hasn't he seen the paychecks Bush's campaign advisers were depositing? How can that be a waste? Some well-connected white guys got a lot of other people's money, which means the Bush campaign has been totally a success.
