Shocking footage from Santa Teresita beach in Buenos Aires, Argentina, shows the body of the marine mammal lying motionless on the floor as dozens of people surround it.
The Franciscana dolphin had been passed around between sun worshippers while they took out their phones and posed for pictures.
It was then dumped on the side to die from dehydration and overheating from exposure to the sun.

(30,250 posts)It doesn't surprise me, though. Idiots take pics and videos when human lives are at risk, why wouldn't they do it with a dolphin? Technology is a doubled-edged sword.
RIP, baby dolphin.
BTW, Santa Teresita is a town by the ocean. It's hours from the city of Buenos Aires. It's in the province of Buenos Aires. It's like saying that something happened in upstate NY, hours away from NYC.

(146,317 posts)I've encountered wild porpoises myself while swimming. I was approached by one which appeared to be curious or just interested in me for some reason. It was fascinating, but I never ventured to touch the creature. It hung around for a couple of minutes, looking at me from up close, and then swam off.
I can't imagine these people acting as they did.
