US election: Donald Trump v Pope... who wins?

He's lashed out at his critics and bullied his opponents. He has mocked the disabled and had protesters bundled out of his rallies.

Only yesterday he sent a "cease and desist" letter to his Republican rival Ted Cruz, threatening legal action over "lies" he'd allegedly committed. But issuing a writ to the Vatican is not a course of action his lawyers would recommend.

And watching him last night at a town hall event organised by MSNBC he was unapologetic. He says he is merely defending himself against the attacks of others.

But what you do when the person attacking you over your plans to build a wall along the southern US border is not just another "here today, gone tomorrow", two-bit politician - but instead is the pontiff?

stay out of politics. If not, then they should lose their tax exemption. I don't care who or which religion does it.

I don't care for Trump or any of the Rethugs but this is stupid.

However, the bigger point is there are thousands of Catholic Churches all throughout the country who don't pay taxes, and still illegally try to influence public policy. Let them pay their fair share. Pope Francis still benefits indirectly from this lack of taxes, despite not being an American Citizen.

Trump is just a general scumbag so screw him. However, with the pope, even if I agree with him on the position, he is still using religion to say someone who has a different position on an issue is "not a christian." I hate this type of entangling of religion and government. Even when a religious leader agrees with me on an issue, I'd rather wish they not use religion to try to impact governmental policy.

Trump wins in a battle between the two because evangelical Christians don't care for Catholics nor their leader. He just took some support away from Cruz with that genius move.

Growing up as a Baptist it was not uncommon to hear Catholics viewed as not Christian - which is weird since the beginning of Christendom came from the Catholic Church.....didn't it.

I left religion as soon as I could. In my case it was all about using the Bible to support segregation, degradation of women, and lots of hypocrisy. Admittedly that was over 50 years ago so things might have changed.

These days I could care less about religion which I view as a personal decision by everyone.

Peace

He said, "A person who only thinks about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian."

Donald Trump waves the bible around while spewing hate. More religious leaders should call him out.

the Pope would win (yes, I know he's not a citizen - but this for "funzies&quot as he is very popular w/ many Americans of every persuasion. The primary and the Pope doesn't stand a chance.
