Texas just proved to the nation they don't care about the truth. That, or they don't want people in the state to know the truth - either scenario seems plausible.

A Texas health official was just forced into retirement after he co-authored a study which showed that Planned Parenthood helps low-income women. He was a public servant for over 20 years.

Texas Health and Human Services Commission Spokesman Bryan Black announced Thursday that the former Director of Research Rick Allgeyer decided to retire amid the outcry over his study. The study, which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine, suggested that Texas' cuts to the women's health organization had restricted access to low-income women who rely on Planned Parenthood for contraception and family planning.

The state's Republican leadership was outraged by the implications of the study. Texas lawmakers restricted access to Planned Parenthood beginning in 2011, and by the fiscal year 2013, the number of women served in women's health clinics dropped tremendously. The study correlates political motives to the negative impact it had on poorer women.
