But not so bad where I was.

I'm going to have to rebuild a small outbuilding out on our farm property.

Nice of you to ask. Just responded to a vile post on another thread where a poster wished destruction on the south.

And at work we spent about an hour in our tornado warning shelter rooms. I've been there 9 years, and never had that before. I live 5 miles north of my workplace, and it didn't even look like the wind had gotten up. But I've had a couple of trees fall, pines that were way past their prime, but no damage - so far, anyway. The ground is completely saturated, I have water standing everywhere.

They were predicting 100% chance of thunderstorms a couple of days ago and all we got was drizzle.

but only had some small tree debris come down from winds.

Apparently there were 3 tornadoes that touched down in NC--but none close to us.

I lived in Tornado Alley from 1988-2000 in Missouri and Nebraska. We were in the basement quite a few times
during those years and there were some devastating tornadoes touched down not far from us.

But it wasn't until we were living in NC that I experienced a tornado going over our heads! It really does sound like
a freight train. We were in downtown Raleigh--at a matinee performance of the ballet- when it
hit. We had parked in an open lot. When we walked out of the auditorium there were trees down everywhere
and I feared the worst. But our car was ok! And so was the parking attendant who told us he hunkered down
between parked cars because there was no warning and he had no time to run inside anywhere!

That was a scary day, and one for the record books. http://www.ustornadoes.com/2013/04/16/north-carolinas-largest-tornado-outbreak-april-16th-2011/

Mine did, when a tornado went right over the house in Texas. It touched down less than a mile away - no one was hurt, fortunately.

We were in a huge auditorium and the solid building materials may have had something to do with it.

but nothing like the storms in the southeast. I don't watch much TV so thanks for the heads up about that. Very sorry to hear about the loss of lives.

At home the sump pump was working overtime to keep the basement dry. I have a spare submersible pump in case the pump fails, but I get paranoid and check on it too much.

Bad winds, black skies, dumped rain, downed trees, shingles flying
Other than that I'm upright. Thanks for asking.
