Just casually calling for a military coup.

Kansas Republican: Military leaders have constitutional obligation to disobey Obama order to close Gitmo

......

“The men and women of our military who he would ask to carry out that mission would have to look very carefully at whether the direction that they were being given was consistent with what their counsel was telling them about what was legal,” Pompeo said. “I hope the president won’t put anybody in that position and won’t present risk to America, but we’ve watched the president behave in lawless ways.”

Host Steve Malzberg asked the congressman whether military members might disobey the president’s order after consulting with unspecified legal authorities.

“You know, I served, Steve, in the military for quite a while, and if there’s one thing you understand it’s chain of command and following orders,” Pompeo said.

The lawmaker and military veteran, however, carved out a major exception to the chain of command and the obligation to follow orders — at least when Obama is the commander in chief.

At least it was that way a few decades ago. Onboard a ship, before cell phones, internet, etc, the only news the crew received is what was released. If the Commanding Officer decided not to tell the crew that California fell into the Pacific no one would know. The same goes for military coups - think in terms of some Japanese on remote islands at the end of WWII. They fought to defend the world they thought existed.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) on Tuesday compared a pending announcement from the White House on a plan to close Guantanamo Bay to the Trail of Tears.

Issa said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom" that it was unlikely Congress would be able to contest the closure in a timely fashion.

"Our process is to go to the court. The court is likely not to rule quickly," he said. "It's an old example, but Andy Jackson, the founder of the Democratic Party, in the Trail of Tears defied the Supreme Court and marched Native Americans to their deaths."

Issa said it was up to U.S. military leaders to decide whether to follow Obama's plan, which he said was unlawful.
