Trying to think positive: America is not the Republican Party.

And the loud and vocal part of the Republican Party that is exalting Donald Fucking Trump as their current Lord and Savior isn't going to get any bigger once the primaries are done and the general election begins.

And while the mania behind Trump because he offers a different face than the Republican establishment (and to be honest, the Republican establishment has been pretty damn horrible for years so you might understand the desire for that different face) might resonate deep within the bowels of the Republican rank and file, that doesn't necessarily translate to America as a whole.

Because I simply cannot and will not believe that most Americans outside the Republican base will see Donald Trump as anything other than a horrible, awful, terrible, disgusting human being with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Please, give me that type of optimism, because it just seems so blatantly obvious and common sense.

And hopefully America has more common sense as whole than do the base of the Republican Party.

Trump has zero specifics, is a global disaster waiting to happen and will wear thin with many/most persuadable voters, but we have to counter with some inspiration of our own or too many will say, "let's take a chance. How bad can he be compared with the same ole same ole?"

This was always going to be the challenge for Hillary, who is good at playing the adult in the room, but whom many see as too wrapped up in her personal quest(s) to connect with them. She'll need to add some youth and charisma on the ticket. I hope she and Bill are not only secure enough to realize that but also leverage it for all it's worth. Obama didn't need a running mate who could help him campaign, but he did need someone who could help him with Congress. Hillary's needs are the reverse.
