Lands' End Apologizes for Feature on Feminist Gloria Steinem

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS DODGEVILLE, Wis. — Feb 25, 2016, 11:52 AM ET

Wisconsin-based retailer Lands' End is apologizing to customers for featuring feminist Gloria Steinem in its spring catalog and has removed her from its website.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ( http://bit.ly/1QG5CMQ ) reports that the company on Tuesday removed a feature on Steinem from its website after customers complained about her support for abortion rights. It issued an apology to customers who were offended Wednesday.

Steinem had been interviewed by company CEO Federica Marchionni for the Lands' End "Legend Series." The company says in a statement that its goal was to feature people who have made a difference, and not to take a political or religious stance.

backed down. Here's hoping they ask every model they feature in the catalog about their stances on abortion from now on.

How do you feature people who have made a difference ... who haven't challenged the status quo in some way?
