If Obama picked Bernie for Supreme Court, he could put GOP in no win situation

If they block Bernie and he wins the presidency, they look like idiots.

If they let him get on the court, they would look impotent, and decades of their work to establish an oligarchy could be undone in a few years.

I know it's beyond unlikely but I like the idea of putting GOP in a "no win" situation yurbud Feb 2016 #8
Sure, but this is not a "no win" them. Just for the Dems. Appoints an unqualified radical? Why? Bucky Feb 2016 #10

The trend in recent years has been to appoint younger justices, like Roberts, who will stay on SCOTUS for decades.

This makes no sense at all. It's an easy "no" vote for Bernie for Scotus and Obama looks like an impulsive partisan. He would also piss off the 55% of the Democrats who are supporting Clinton. He also wastes his argument that the Republicans are being mindlessly partisan by becoming the same himself.

The repubs don't look like idiots blocking a 70 year old nominee with no legal, let alone judicial experience. Obama would look like an idiot for nominating him.

Indeed, it could be a win-win situation for the repubs -- they say, okay, let's schedule hearings. And for the next couple of months, Bernie is off the campaign trail and his entire life's history is vetted and put out there with all sorts of suggestions being made by the repubs about how out of the mainstream Bernie is blah blah blah.

Actually, I don't know why I bothered to write this since it is such an implausible and bad idea there is no chance in the world of it happening.

I've heard some way out theories...but that one is up there. A SC nominee, running for president at the same time? um..no,
