The bit about why Trump wouldn't hire Rubio's mother, or make his shirts in the US, looked to me like they flustered Trump, and that's something I haven't seen yet on the GOP side of this campaign season.

(92,245 posts)undocumented immigrants, yes and no.
He has also referred to undocumented immigrants as "illegal aliens", "undocumented aliens", and "undocumented immigrants". I guess it depends on the audience he is speaking to

(13,598 posts)I'd far rather see a Democrat run against Trump than against Rubio. I'd like to see Trump stay as unbloodied as possible until he's got the nomination locked down, and if anyone has to land punches on him, I'd rather it were Cruz than Rubio.

(13,598 posts)And how much do you weight "beatable" against "least bad if they win" against other factors when doing so?

(3,967 posts)As you say, he is yes and no on undocumented immigrants. Is he so far right that the people who vote for him saying "he has shown some signs of being reasonable" will be shocked, or is he pretty right but pandering to the farthest right?
My best guess - we will never have the chance to find out because he is not going to be president.

(17,656 posts)I thought the best line occurred when Rubio was complaining about Trump hiring "illegals", as Rubio referred to them.
Trump protested the charge, and said that they weren't "illegals", and then added that there weren't many to begin with.
Rubio insisted on doubling down and said, "You're the only man on this stage that has hired illegal workers."
To which Trump replied, "I'm the only one up here who has hired anyone. He (gesturing towards Rubio) hasn't hired anyone."
To thunderous applause of the audience.

(2,016 posts)Trump could say anything, A or non A, B or non B, he'd come out ahead of the other two.
By comparison, Cruz weasely preachiness is painful to watch, and Rubio looks like a kid.

(50,279 posts)In his interview with Chris Cuomo after the event he went after Rubio as a "choker" (as in someone who chokes at a critical point in a sporting event) and a "sweater" (drip, drip, drip not cardigan). The ads are going write themselves.

(6,829 posts)When Christie went after Rubio it took both of them down - Christie showed the world the bully that he is.
Rubio is finally outed as strident, mocking and bratty
