In all of my 86 yrs I have never heard a more bigoted, scary candidate than Trump. He says the Hispanics love him, it is like saying the Jewish people loved Hitler. The real worry is the cheers he gets from Americans, what happened to us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(3,447 posts)You...DO remember all the fun everyone had here when President Obama would troll the Republicans (and any moderate who happened to share an opinion on one R point or another) on one thing or another? Well, so do they.
What you might NOT have caught was the huge number of moderates who got caught in all the Twitter trolling done in the name of Social Justice. People can argue over whether their definition of SJ is accurate or not, but they're the other half of the equation you're looking at. These people got scores of people fired, run off Twitter, silenced by 'new techniques to prevent harrassment' (harrassment defined as "They disagreed with me" , and so on.
But still our pundits are convinced its 'racists' and will keep massaging their polls to show that the voters are 'racists' because its the only insult they have left. Just ask any Bernie supporter like myself - the media is always quick to break out that word because they THINK it works 'so well'. We've been under attack from it all week, too.
So yeah. When your concerns are pushed to the back, trolled, ignored, and made the laughingstock of lowbrow societal signalling, then the first chance you get to bring it all down, you will.
This was utterly and completely predictable. The only question was when, and who.

(111,285 posts)but no, none have been in the "grownup" debates by either of the major parties.
I wonder if the candidates just before the dissolution of both the Federalists and the Whigs as national parties were just as loud and extreme. I've been predicting that the devils the GOP made all those deals with will destroy that party as they all try to take over at once. I think that's the process we might be seeing now.
I do think their campaign will be fun to watch, especially if it's a brokered campaign that will disappoint both the bigots and the religious nutters. If that happens, there will be blood and I hope the fistfights are televised.

(23,867 posts)It has been an eye opening election, with discoveries which include the Democratic party. Everyone has moved to the right except the core Democrats who still hold the original visions.
If anyone but Bernie wins, we're in for social turmoil. The voices are already calling out for revolution in the streets. I've got a couple of decades before I catch up with you in age, so we'll be the ones having to deal with the idiots.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate hearing from the older and wiser voices. You are the ones who should be speaking out in order to keep us grounded.

(25,253 posts)Here's what is going to happen if we happen to get a Trump or any Repug presidency - status quo and worse.
Our country's infrastructure will deteriorate even more. They'll still be promoting fossil fuels. They'll be giving more tax breaks to corporations so they can continue to ship jobs overseas. They'll be making it harder for workers to join unions so they can be taken advantage of with low wages and decreased benefits. They'll do away with the concept of minimum wage altogether. They'll make sure women continue to earn less than men. They'll pass more trade bills like TPP to put us in a further disadvantage and keep jobs overseas. They'll make sure our college graduates never get out of debt. They'll make it even harder for those that seek a college education to afford one. They'll continue to shore up the big banks and let them get even bigger. They'll rescind the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) and let the insurance companies take more advantage of us. They'll let Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid fail to further put our seniors in poverty and die untimely deaths. They'll continue tax loopholes so that more corporations can get on the bandwagon to not pay U.S. Federal Income taxes. They'll promote war and send more of our treasures (in money and lives) to fight for the 1% and their greed. They'll give up more of our privacy based on fear talk. They'll build fences. They'll overturn Roe vs Wade, etc, etc, etc Need I say more.
As I see it we are at a point in history where we have a candidate that will be transformational. A man of integrity that speaks truth to power and he'll fight for us. That man is Bernie Sanders.
There won't be another Bernie coming down the pike after him. It is now or never folks. Think about the future for yourself, your kids and grandkids. That is what we'll all have to look forward to if we let Bernie slip away. And it will take more than a 'political revolution' to reverse that.

(6,829 posts)He captured the highest total of Latino votes of any candidate - even running against 2 Latinos
It appears Latinos do love him
He got 45% of the 8% of Latinos who voted Republican in Nevada. At least, that's how I heard it explained.

(6,829 posts)So even 8 percent of the Latino vote can be extrapolated for the rest

(1,353 posts)To hopefully scare enough people that this is actually America and how stupid can people be? It's beyond embarrassing and a great campaign for the democratic nominee: Hillary or Bernie...and throw in Senator Graham: "our party has gone batshit crazy"...

(50,285 posts)It was like listening in on a maniac ranting away on a back ward somewhere. I will give him credit for something though. Dragging Crispy Cream out as an endorser was brilliant since it's the first day Rubio thought he had scored some points. What a pair of bullies. I wonder if Christie has been promised VP or AG.
