The firing of MHP shows that MSNBC is as bad as the others with being a news outlet, in prioritizing business interests over integrity. This is why it's important to support non profit and independent news media. The low quality of commercial "news media" on TV, as well as cable TV in general, shows why this whole "free market will do better" argument is a bunch of BS. Good thing Newt Gingrich didn't get his way back in the mid 1990s, or the idiocracy we live in would be worse than it is now.

(4,667 posts)I mostly watch CNN now.
Their coverage last night blew MSNBC away. MSNBC actually went off the air to do prison porn before Sanders spoke! Only CNN carried the Sanders speech.
CNN has more African Americans covering and commenting on its political coverage than MSNBC. CNN is now my top choice for cable news.

(32,047 posts)I now live in a house with cable TV and have been watching Al Jazeera America in its final days. I wonder what it'll be replaced with, the international feed of AJ English?

Nonetheless for lefty viewers that's the loss of a really good mind.
