Elections took place in Jamaica on Thursday

In the preliminary vote count, the PNP lost the election with 30 seats to the JLPs 33 seats. Since the recount it is now 32-31 in favor of the JLP as a St Mary seat was actually won by the PNP candidate (by nine votes). Word on the street is that a St Thomas constituency may also be flipped based on the count.

All counting is done by the independent Electoral Office of Jamaica.

The current Prime Minister,Portia Simpson-Miller just appealed to both sides to demonstrate maturity and wait for the official count.

This could get ugly.
