2008 Republican nominee John McCain joins Romney in blasting Trump
WASHINGTON
U.S. Senator John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, joined 2012 nominee Mitt Romney on Thursday in criticizing front-runner Donald Trump, particularly on foreign policy.
I share the concerns about Donald Trump that my friend and former Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, described in his speech today," McCain said in a statement.
"I would also echo the many concerns about Mr. Trumps uninformed and indeed dangerous statements on national security issues that have been raised by 65 Republican defense and foreign policy leaders," he said of the letter, published online.
McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said at a time of global turmoil, "I want Republican voters to pay close attention to what our party's most respected and knowledgeable leaders and national security experts are saying about Mr. Trump."

GOP exists to legislate and implement hatred toward ALL non white male Christians.
Trump, who I believe is playing a part, is only giving them what they have ALWAYS wanted.
So why the freak out?

(1,178 posts)and were too arrogant to recognize that crazy people, by definition, cannot be easily controlled. While part of me is greatly enjoying the imminent implosion of the Republican Party, the more rational and less emotional part of me is concerned that we have a long way to go before this bottoms out. We have tens of millions of heavily armed, irrational people whipped into a frenzy of fear and hatred of facts, government, and people not exactly like them. I fear catastrophe before this can be resolved.

(47,484 posts)From a story yesterday in the WSJ
Democrats haven't missed the opportunity to tie their opponents to Mr. Trump. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick of Arizona, who is seeking to unseat Republican Sen. John McCain, on Monday released an advertisement pointing to comments from the veteran senator that he would support Trump if he became the nominee. Mr. McCain doubted his opponent could tie him to the New York businessman. Trump has attacked me, said the Vietnam prisoner of war who was last year portrayed by Mr. Trump as at fault because he was captured. Maybe she missed that.

(8,964 posts)Now a toss-up. The down ticket drag from a Trump candidacy is not a question of if, but how much. The growing Latino population in Arizona would not only reject Trump overwhelmingly, but would also take down anyone remotely associated with him.

And exactly which of the GOP candidates does McCain think would be better? Cruz? Rubio? Carson? Cruz's solution to everything is "nuke 'em", and Rubio and Carson couldn't find Iran on a map without help.

(953 posts)Sensing Trump is un-presidential and very likely loser in the campaign
They are trying a third way
Launch their own ticket - resurrecting Romney-Ryan is a subliminal poke questioning
Obama's legitimacy - allowing Trump to run as a third party
Then you have : HRC or Bernie need 270 Electoral Votes to win
If they don't make it, that election is decided in the House, the Republican House
Roberts yesterday rejected unilaterally a challenge to Obama's mercury emissions rules
It's great, but but but does it establish the precedent that the Chief Justice can act
alone? Wouldn't that be useful in a Presidential Election ruling when the Supreme Court
is in a 4-4 tie?

(16,926 posts)If they haven't yet figured it out, I'll try to make it easy for them: The Donald's frantic followers not only don't care what McGramps and RMoney have to say, they have been deemed as figureheads of the Establishment who have failed to uphold the nativist beliefs so dear to authoritarians. Each attempt by the old guard to attack Trump will only ratchet up his numbers that much more.

(131 posts)Y'all created this mess. And John, you were instrumental in helping start the Tea Bagging movement that has officially hijacked your party and turned your racist supporters lose on the American people. This is way too little, WAY too late. We can only hope that more Democrats get into office and hopefully turn this shit around before it's too late.
