(7,820 posts)That Republicans were capable of understanding and empathy *before* a crisis personally hit them or their family.

(28,125 posts)It's on my desktop and occasionally I'll even email it to some republican as a "to hell with you" statement.
It's sooo good to see it circulating.

(17,199 posts)In his editorial New Rule, Bill Maher calls out Republicans for refusing to get on the humane side of an issue unless they have been personally affected by it. Original air date: March 4, 2016.

When Darth Vader came out supporting gay rights, I told a friend that someone very close to him HAD to be gay.
It's part of the RW's personality disorder.

I voted for him three times, once in the primary and twice in the general election. Proud of it all too.

(3,427 posts)I guess he changed his views after he realized that the predictions of doom about Obamacare turned out to be lies.

(23,156 posts)I wonder if he was on Medicaid, which is a socialist a program as exists.

(3,427 posts)In his speech introducing Obama (starting at 17:10 in the link below), it sounded like he had no insurance at all. Since he had a pre-existing condition, he was uninsurable, so he burned through all his savings until he went bankrupt. Just the kind of situation the ACA was designed to prevent. And still he was against it. I don't know what finally caused him to see the light.

(38,502 posts)Republicans who may never express or feel gratitude. That makes this guy even more special.

(45,984 posts)I have had some problems -- serious ones -- with some of the things President Obama did (like push the TPP) or didn't do (like prosecute Wall Street banksters and Bush Administration war criminals), but the ACA is a landmark piece of legislation that putds us on the road to universal healthcare for all. It could have been better, but even as it is, it is worlds better than the racket the private health insurance companies were running seven years ago.
Thank you for the post.
