Man, that's how the hardball gets played. Rubio won't quit, even tho his not quitting is helping Trump, whom everyone is desperate to stop. So someone pulls Rubio aside and says, "Marco, babe, if you don't drop out we'll tell the world about your two girlfriends." and Rubio gets all irate and says, in his squeaky adolescent voice, "No, I'm the best chance we have for winning in November." So the guy who pulled Rubio aside then makes a call to some 3rd rate online journalist who's desperate for access and says "Run with it."
And then we get this headline, which over the next two days will slowly creep into CNN's and Fox's news coverage:

BREAKING: Rubio Has Two Mistresses; Dropping Out of the Race?!
Its never a pretty story when rumors of affairs surround politicians, especially when they are running a campaign to be President of the United States Well have to continue paying close attention to this story, but it seems Senator Marco Rubio may have had an affair, not once, but twice
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio has carried on at least two extramarital affairs since he entered politics.
Note the last four words there. They've been sitting on this dirt for years. It's old news. But they're running it anyway to force him out. And by the way, who the fuck is "GotNews.com"? 3rd rate.
GotNews.com can confirm through lobbyist sources in DC and Tallahassee that at least one DC-based lobbyist has had an extra marital affair with the first term U.S. Senator. Still another Florida-based lobbyist has been IDed as carrying on an affair.
The first woman was Amber Stoner, a 36-year-old woman who worked for Rubio when he was head of the Florida Republican Party.
Stoner, who later became a lobbyist, traveled with Rubio at least seventeen times, including several resort towns on the GOP credit card. Rubio still hasnt released all of his credit card records from his time heading the party.
A pattern has emerged where Rubio often has affairs with women who work for him or who could benefit from his access or policies. As Rubios election prospects diminish he only won Minnesota the willingness of ex-supporters to throw him under the bus has also increased.
Sources from both the Jeb Bush campaign for president and the Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate campaign confirm that they investigated the Amber Stoner-Rubio relationship. A journalist who investigated the affair found Stoner threatening a libel suit.
And so the bloodsport continues

This isn't trying to get him to drop out... it's because they expect him to do it and they need to run the story while he's still selling.

(58,785 posts)be keeping a private harem? If he has been supporting two or more women for years, it would certainly shed further light on his financial problems, but I'm guessing this is just a gratuitous insult of women in general.
Well, true or not, we pretty much know he's toast this time around. Good news for The Nice-Faced Boy is that politicians can usually be reelected within 5 years of a serious sex scandal. My guess is he'd be running again in 2019.
But, question? Is it too late for Rubio to run for his own Senate seat, for a paycheck? Anyone know?
This year, as Rubio runs for president, he has cast the Senate the very place that cemented him as a national politician as a place hes given up on, after less than one term. Its too slow. Too rule-bound. So Rubio, 44, has decided not to run for his seat again. Its the White House or bust.
