Chicago made me proud yesterday

while some argue for "free speech"....free speech has a price and when your rhetoric is base on inflaming your supporters for hate, racism, bigotry and violence there comes a time when enough is enough. Yesterday we saw that in chicago when thousands of americans stood up to it....too bad that "good germans" didn;t do the same back in the 1920s....hitler would have been a small minor footnote in history....

Lets see how many legal fees trump is willing to pay for when the real violence starts erupting....trump has transformed into a monster who is hell bent on turning his supporters into a mob.....

good people need to stand up to it and yesterday they did in Chicago...

and hearing Trump yell "Throw Them Out" has built up some anger in me. Seeing people stand up to Trump and his supporters hatred and abuse, I felt proud. Proud there are so many people who feel the same way I do. Proud that, for at least one night, hatred was opposed and not allowed to spread it's wings. Proud, that good people are standing up to evil!

I'm not sure exactly what happened in Chicago yesterday but as a general , pretty much *absolute* rule..... groups should be allowed to hold public rallies w/o having their speakers being disrupted, and effectively silenced. Nazis ( you brought 'em up) broke up communist, socialist and union rallies this way.

No evidence that ... otoh... that the nazi ascent to power would have been significantly hindered by anti-nazis disrupting nazi rallies.

In general: I'm not going to endorse fighting nazism.... or any of it's derivatives... by adopting nazi tactics. 2 reasons:

1. It's wrong to behave like a nazi.

2. It probably won't work. And might even help them out.

While I understand the frustration with Trump, I would rather see people putting their energy into supporting Sanders rather than screaming against an opponent during an election process.

I feel that principles mean something and won't praise protestors for shouting down an opposing candidate ad supporters during a campaign. For those who support this, don't be hypocritical if Trump supporters do the same at a Sanders event.

I am pretty clear my grandfather would have preferred if the German people had taken the man down early in his career once it became obvious what he was trying to make happen, and let's not even discuss the rhetoric that led to the Holocost.

That shit is UNACCEPTABLE. And I call it "shit" for a reason.

The speech has been heard, so that box has been checked. The protesters are in the right to fight against the politics of hate. These people need to know their views are NOT WELCOME.

Probably came from less than 25 miles away too
As one protestor said on tv this was about lives that matter that are being threatened by this hate wave . Germany let Nazis go on for years just shrugging at what was growing and a whole generation grew up in the propaganda
How big will the RW wing hate be allowed to grow ? It has already been going on for years

"prove" YOUR point.

Reading comprehension is important. Keep swinging at the straw men, though - totally makes you look credible (at least THE OPPOSITE of it).

This was bound to happen. The genesis goes way back to Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and others in the 1990s.

Words, hateful or otherwise have consequences.

It doesn't mean violence but big loud turnouts in a strong show of solidarity goes a long way to remind them most of us know they're hateful fringe lunatics and neither mainstream nor acceptable.

Chicago said, "No. Your hate filth is not welcome here." They have a right to say what is not acceptable in their community, there's no violation here.

I stand with them.

abdicated. For a pathetically few years after disastrous WWI Germany tried "democracy" and it seemingly lead only to more disaster, which in turn disposed many to turn once again to an autocratic leader who promised to restore stability and prosperity.

We kicked out our only king nearly 250 years ago and are the planet's oldest current continuous democracy. We're not 1920s-30s Germany.
