Madison City Clerk tells me turnout is on pace to hit 119% in Madison, adding "That would be unprecedented."

Turnout in excess of 100% is possible because Wisconsin allows same-day voter registration. The numbers suggest that many people are registering at the polls. Heavy turnout in Madison, a liberal stronghold, would likely benefit Democrat Tom Barrett.

(7,865 posts)I predict stupid conservatives attempting to use the headline as a justification for arguments that voter fraud took place.
What a stupid way to frame turnout anyhow? 138% Idiotic. It would have been sufficient to say that there was a 38% increase over the total number of registered voters in the form of same day registrations.

(9,132 posts)I despairingly posted that Scott Walker would prevail because too many young "slackers" would do what real slackers do best, too progressives would stay home, and too many independents would decide that it's just the "pointy-headed" "libruls" and the blankety-blank unions that wanted the governor recalled.
Maybe, just maybe, I'll get to feast on crow tonight.
Gee, I hope so!

(2,198 posts)It means more people registered to vote today putting the number of voters over the original number of registered voters.
