Madison City Clerk: Turnout Is On Pace To Reach 119%

A local reporter in Wisconsin is reporting record turnout in Madison:

Madison City Clerk tells me turnout is on pace to hit 119% in Madison, adding "That would be unprecedented."

Turnout in excess of 100% is possible because Wisconsin allows same-day voter registration. The numbers suggest that many people are registering at the polls. Heavy turnout in Madison, a liberal stronghold, would likely benefit Democrat Tom Barrett.

Looks like the extra votes were Republican ringers. Not Democrats. Kablooie Jun 2012 #15

I predict stupid conservatives attempting to use the headline as a justification for arguments that voter fraud took place.

What a stupid way to frame turnout anyhow? 138% Idiotic. It would have been sufficient to say that there was a 38% increase over the total number of registered voters in the form of same day registrations.

That deserves a few bars of the U. of Wisconsin fight song (and I hope to God I'm not celebrating too early).

I despairingly posted that Scott Walker would prevail because too many young "slackers" would do what real slackers do best, too progressives would stay home, and too many independents would decide that it's just the "pointy-headed" "libruls" and the blankety-blank unions that wanted the governor recalled.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll get to feast on crow tonight.

Gee, I hope so!

It means more people registered to vote today putting the number of voters over the original number of registered voters.
