In the month of January the Republicans did a little bit better registering about 1,500 more than the Democrats.
In February they did even better registering about 34,000 more. I figured these are people who want to vote for Donald Trump.
From 3/1 to 3/15 the Democrats did better registering about 1,000 more than the Republicans.
I looked today and the Republicans added a little more than 18,000 to their voter rolls yesterday. The Democrats 843.
I wonder how the heck they added 18,000 in one day when the deadline to vote in the primary was a few weeks ago.

(3,023 posts)I don't know how long it takes for them to process voter registrations. I'll monitor it tonight and see if there is a bigger than usual increase for the Democrats. I was just surprised when I saw it today.

(34,136 posts)There are some who did so because they don't like the Democratic candidates but even more who did so they can vote for the Republican most likely to lose against the Democratic nominee.
Two of my BILs did that. They are faithful Democrats - one has campaigned for Democratic candidates since 1968 before he was eligible to vote - but they do this as a strategy to reduce the chances the Republicans will win. They've done it since 2008 at least, maybe before that.

(3,023 posts)The Democrats have added about 76,500 since the beginning of the year. That's about normal.

(6,342 posts)Sure it happens, but not in any numbers that are significant.
It's also quite risky and subjective. For example, in my opinion, I think Cruz would be easier for us to beat than Trump. Some disagree with that though.

(42,763 posts)I was behind two young men also on their way out. From what they were saying to one another it looked like they had just found out they couldn't vote in the Primary because they had registered NPA. Some of the new Rs and Ds you are seeing may be changing from NPA.
