Congressman scorches Michigan governor over Flint water crisis: There you are, dripping with guilt
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder endured harsh questioning from Congressman Matt Cartwright (D-PA) during a House committee meeting on the Flint water crisis Thursday, according to video from MSNBC.
Snyder as governor oversaw the state amid a massive water crisis in Flint that caused residents to drink and be poisoned by lead in the water system.
Governor Snyder, plausible deniability only works when its plausible, and Im not buying that you didnt know any of this until October 2015, Cartwright, an attorney, said. You were not in a medically-induced coma for a year.
Cartwright blasted Snyder for failing to both take action to avert the crisis and his phony apologies.
There you are, dripping with guilt but drawing your salary, hiring lawyers at the expense of the people, and doing your dead-level best to spread accountability to others and not being accountable, Cartwright said. Pretty soon we will have men who strike their wives saying, Im sorry dear, but there were failures at all levels.'
Cartwright then continued, saying, People who put dollars over the fundamental safety of the people do not belong in government. And you need to resign too, Governor Snyder.

(26,281 posts)Flint is so lucky to have Dan Kildee, too. I wish he was on that committee. Snyder would likely have wet himself, just at the prospect of being questioned by Dan. I suspect he was HIGHLY caught off guard by Congressman Cartwright.
