O'Donnell just had two high-ranking Rs on his show.
Apparently, there's an RNC rule that says the convention does not need to accept as valid any results from an OPEN primary. The Rs on the show were on either side of the issue, with one saying precedent has been set that as long as a person can't vote in BOTH the R & D open primaries in a given state, that votes from an open primary are acceptable. The other R said there's a rule that specifically disallows treating those votes as valid.
Interesting.

(3,040 posts)... Cruz is seen as the less crazy option to Trump?! Cruz is an apocalyptic extremist Christian that believes that his God has selected him to initiate the end times?!
That said, I may really dislike Trump, but if he won the primary, there is no reason to discount votes so he loses. We may not like the GOP, but we have to be worried when the establishment disregards the will of the people for the will of the party.

(18,115 posts)The plan is for Cruz and Kasich to win enough states/delegates remaining to prevent trump from getting to 1237.
There isn't mathematic possibility for either Cruz or Kasich to reach 1237 now.
The first round, delegates are bound and no one would hit 1237. It would go to a second round vote, where the delegates can vote for whomever they want. Anyone. Even if they didn't run. For example, Romney or Ryan or Kasich or Rubio.
All bets are off.

(3,040 posts)All of their last resort options will lose to Hillary, the only candidate that has a chance against Hillary is Trump. That is the RNC's catch 22. They know that Trump could defeat the Clintons because he has been a donor and friend of theirs for years and has information against the Clintons from that relationship that no amount of opposition research could gather, yet they know Trump will tear the GOP apart. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't with Trump.

(24,396 posts)Kasich would be the most-formidable opponent for Hillary to face. He's no bargain, but compared to the clown car, he's almost liberal.
Rs would flock to vote for him based on his "normal" quotient alone. And sadly, many Sanders voters would also find him more attractive than Hillary. Being low-information types, their being taken in by the RW noise about Hillary's "evils" would only be exceeded by their lack of focussing a critical eye on the real Kasich, who is virulently anti-woman and anti-marriage equality.
Else You Are Mad
(3,040 posts)First of all no one is flocking to Kasich. Second, most of Sanders supporters are baby boomers with college to terminal degrees and millenials with at least a 4 year degree or at a college that will award such, so please do not call his supporters "low information" I opposed it when it was used against those in southern states without a college education & I oppose it being used now. Most, especially the baby boomers (I have talked to many about this), remember when Hillary was anti marriage and anti-union.
Stop trying to vilify Sanders supporters.

(30,058 posts)I would not be surprised if they also went with the super delegates in the next primary of 2020. They have had the Tea Party trying to take over and now a bigger problem. There are Independent who are trying to throw the nominee selection and cross over Democrats trying to select the GOP nominee.
