Maybe Piper Laurie's character in the original 1976 film, "Carrie"...? At least with Carrie's mother, her outbursts made some kind of sense - unintelligible religious word-salad rantings and ravings of Bachmann would be funny for a second in a work of fiction, but would get tiresome after about a minute; in contrast, Laurie's performance was brilliant, riveting, and frightening.
