(118,807 posts)why his favorable are so high. Maybe the doe eyes. But the Democrats should start treating him like he is a candidate for the nomination NOW! Biden is an excellent debater by the way. Probably the best the Democrats have these days. So that doesn't prove Ryan is not a danger to Hillary or Bernie.

(51,726 posts)Once he was not running any more and got a tough job, his favorable surged, like Hillary's did when she was Secretary of State.
If he jumps into the race, his unfavorables will shoot up. Two main reasons: As a partisan candidate spouting cray cray GOP talking points, he'll lose his "adult in the room" petina that he got as Speaker. Plus, he will be seen as the back room deal, undemocratically appointed, illegitimate, anointed puppet of the GOP elite.

(118,807 posts)he is. Don't you think it is safer to start the campaign against him now rather than September?

(51,726 posts)The GOP Convention is July 18-21, 2016. Under the circumstances I think it makes sense to wait until then, once we know who the GOP nominee is. Ryan being the nominee is a longshot. We have to conserve our limited resources and use them wisely.
You can bet all Dems will let loose on whoever the GOP nominee is when we gather for our convention the following week on July 25.

(54,068 posts)He's too caurious to run for president outright. If Clinton is elected he wouldnt challenge her in 2020. He's not a long haul kind of guy.

But with Ryan in the picture, I'm rooting for Trump. Go Donald!

(47,953 posts)There's no way he will let the party elite take it away from him. Now, if Cruz ends up with more delegates that might do it. But not if tRump has the most.

(47,953 posts)He has no principles and no honor. He has already said that if he is denied the nomination in a convention tactic that he will let chaos reign.

(23,369 posts)... then the GOP has no principles and no honor.
But we knew that.

(7,963 posts)That was his threat and that is different than him going 3rd party. Don't get me wrong. I don't think anything is beneath Donald Trump. But we don't know what transpired behind closed doors so he may not be ABLE TO.

(7,963 posts)With the likes of someone like Trump and wouldn't anticipate something like this and have some sort of repercussion in place in the event that he backs out. That just seems to me business negotiations 101.
And yep. I just saw that he has reneged on the contract and none of the clowns are going to support the Republican candidate in the fall. Interesting. The implosion continues....
