http://occupydemocrats.com/2016/03/29/just-trump-fan-brutally-pepper-sprays-teenage-girl-video/Violence between Trump supporters and his protesters has broken out once again. A capitol reporter for the Wisconsin State Journal, Molly Beck, witnessed an altercation at a rally in Janesville, which ended with a nineteen-year old protester being pepper-sprayed by a Trump supporter so badly that she needed medical assistance afterwards. The heavily white town with a lengthy history with the Ku Klux Klan exploded into chaos this afternoon as hundreds of Black Lives Matter activists clashed with racists.
UPDATE Witness reports, confirmed by local police chief, reveal that the Trump supporter groped the young womans breast, which prompted the punch and then the pepper-spraying. On a day which has already seen Trump and his supporters disparaging and insulting a woman after she was assaulted by his campaign manager, this truly puts into perspective how deep the hatred in the Trump campaign truly runs misogyny, xenophobia, racism are all celebrated and defended by Trump and his bigoted supporters. He teaches them to treat other humans as objects, to be groped, shoved, and beaten with impunity; his supporters revel in their new-found confidence and behave like animals in public.
The pictures are a brutal symbol not only of the violence of Trumps movement but of their naked disrespect towards women. As he continues to encourage violence at his rallies, the likelihood of people getting injured is rising substantially. This is a low point of American history that we wont be able to soon recover from. This is fascism at work.

(46 posts)But calling her a teenage girl is disrespectful to her and simply disingenuous. She's 19. She's an adult. Reading the headline I envisioned a 14 year old child.
Not disingenuous at all.

(46 posts)Calling an adult woman a "girl" is incredibly disrespectful. Are you really sticking with that position?

(25,816 posts)She is a teenager. Have a nice night.
I said calling her a teenage GIRL was disingenuous. Now you're being disingenuous by claiming that I denied she was a teenager.
Backpedal much?
I'll take your lack of response as confirmation that you think calling an adult woman a "girl" is acceptable in 2016.
The girl is nineTEEN. Do you not see the teen in the word nineteen? Some people get worked up over nothing. A girl gets groped and this is the outrage you focus on? Get some perspective! (And welcome to DU).

(46 posts)She is not a teenage "GIRL" she is an adult woman, albeit a young adult. It is incredibly disrespectful to call an adult woman a "girl."
You're detracting everyone from the real issue here by insisting on disrespecting her. The real issue is that she was sexually assaulted and pepper sprayed: she doesn't need to be disrespected on top of that.

(445 posts)a teenager and nobody else so it's actually you that's distracting from the main topic. I really doubt if that girl would be offended if she was called a teenager; and are you going to rag on me now for calling her a girl instead of a woman because she's an adult. You're political correctness on steroids.
I didn't take issue with "teenager" - in fact, "teenager" was never used until you brought it up. I took issue with calling an adult woman a teenage "girl."
So now you're saying that calling an adult woman a girl is OK and that taking offense is some sort of extreme political correctness... I will not apologize for trying to be respectful of women.

(35,359 posts)a 19-year-old is a girl. Recently an 18-year-old male was a "boy."
When we need to show respect or protect rights, we refer to minors 16, 15, even 14 years old as "man" or "woman"--perhaps "young man" or "young woman," but not "girl."
If you poll people and ask them if they want to eat food grown in materials derived from animal excrement, a large percentage says "no".
If you poll people and ask if they want to eat food grown organically almost all say yes.
Of course, organically grown food is very often grown with manure, which is derived from animal excrement. Such is fast thinking.

(11,949 posts)So the next time we are at a get-together with our friends and my wife(of 25 years) comments that the GIRLS are going for drinks in the den while you BOYS cook supper I need to correct her as being anti-feminist? Or when I comment that you GIRLS go out and sit on the porch, we BOYS will do the dishes, I should feel ashamed?
There are bigger fish to fry.

(1,182 posts)The term has been generalized and doesn't necessarily indicate age.
In other cultures it would certainly be disrespectful in some cases, but in US culture it's really not.

(28,581 posts)But I agree with you. "I find it so funny when someone is compelled to prove how right they are, even when they're wrong."
You are wrong. Words have meanings. You don't just get to change them because you don't like the definitions.
From Merriam-Webster Dictionary
teenage
adjective teen·age ˈtēn-ˌāj
Popularity: Bottom 50% of words
Simple Definition of teenage
: between 13 and 19 years old
: relating to people who are between 13 and 19 years old
You have a nice day.

(35,701 posts)One fifteen and the other nineteen. Maybe we should wait for more details before falling all over ourselves arguing who was an adult and who was a child. Besides, someone got pepper sprayed at close range in the face. That is a fact. Gender and age are kind of irrelevant.

Trump's campaign defector admitted it was all about publicity and spread the Trump view of things. He thought he would finish 2nd, and I'm sure stay relevant for his ego's sake.

Maybe the cops have other, better video, better angle.

I found a more complete video of the encounter. Looks like he may have tapped her with some papers. Not really appropriate, but hardly worth a punch in the face. Starts around 1m 7s

(330 posts)I agree. It looks like he might have put his hands out to hold her back, but nothing sexual.
On the other hand, you can see the guy with the pepper spray way to the right at the beginning to the video and he constantly moves towards them throughout the video. He was looking for a confrontation. Otherwise, why bring pepper spray to a rally?

(58,724 posts)JANESVILLE -- A 15-year-old girl who was pepper sprayed outside a Donald Trump rally in Janesville earlier this week was not sexually assaulted as she originally claimed, police said Thursday.
Video showed the girl getting pepper sprayed after she claimed someone in the crowd outside the rally groped her. Police reported that information in a press conference after the rally Tuesday, calling those "point-in-time comments" that were "based upon victim statements."
However, using video, witness accounts, and interviews, investigators determined there was no sexual assault, and that the 15-year-old girl had punched a 59-year-old man in the face.
