Someone is finally doing something positive about global warming

There has been a lot of talk and promises with regard to stopping and reversing global warming, but most plans are in just the early stages. Meanwhile one person and one company are taking big steps in the right direction and doing it a positive and sexy way a that many Americans are starting to buy into.

That person is Elon Musk and that company is Tesla, the electric car company. Tesla wowed the driving public with the introduction its Model S sedan several years ago. Imagine a beautiful all electric sedan that can go 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds, that can travel over 250 a single charge, and has been certified ad the safest car ever built. Top that off several car of the year awards and you have the Tesla Model S.

Then imagine a network of Tesla supercharger stations strategically located on all the major highways which will allow you to recharge your Tesla quickly for free so that you travel anywhere in the country.

Recently Tesla came out with their all electric SUV, the Model X, with all of the capabilities of the Model S, but like the Model S the base model of the Model X cost $70,000 and the with options it can easy cost over $100,00o, far out of the reach of most budgets. What is needed to really start replacing the polluting internal combustion (ICE) powered vehicles is an "affordable" electrically driven car. Enter the Tesla Model 3 which Musk unveiled last night to to widespread approval.

That being said, it's still a move in the right direction.

First of all, the ultimate Tesla supercharger plan is to have all of their Supercharger stations powerd by solar with Tesla lithium batteries storing electricity generated doing the day. By the way, Tesla Power Wall batteries is making solar feasible for home use in the same manner.

In addition, power companies switching to less polluting sources to generate electricity which produce far fewer green house immersions. Many are switching from coal to natural gas which more than halves greenhouse emissions. It is far better to use electricity generated using natural gas than it is to power your care with gasoline or diesel fuel.

In addition, many power companies are switching to green sources of power - wind, solar, etc. Even here in the very conservative State of Alabama where the electricity used is generated mostly by burning coal, I can chose to pay more per kilowatt hour for Alabama Power to tap into outside green sources of electricity for my use.

In addition, most Tesla enthusiasts like myself are environmentalist nut jobs who are willing to take even more serious steps. I plan to either have solar panels installed on my house myself or contact Solar City to install them for me and then pay them for the electricity generated a far cheaper rate than I currently pay to Alabama Power. One way or another, my Tesla Model 3 will be clean green.

But until the plans are executed, the cars still impact the environment.

Elon Musk's visions are wicked cool, and I do believe they will come to fruition.

though the first production car will not roll of the assembly line until late 2017.

115,000 people antied up $1,000 each to make reservations for the Tesla Model 3 before the car was revealed, before they knew what it would look like, and before they knew what features will be offered or even which features would be standard on the base model of the car which will retail for $35,000. That's the kind of trust that Tesla enthusiasts have for the company.

One stock analyst had predicted that Tesla might receive 40,000 orders for the Model 3 by the end of the coming weekend. Another more bullish analyst predicted that that Tesla might receive as many as 100,000 reservations during the same 4 day time period. The 115,000 figure blew both of those estimates away in the first 12 hours. Early this morning, 24 hours after the people could begin making reservations, Tesla had received 198,000 orders for the Model 3.

Yesterday will be remembered as the day the automobile industry was changed for ever.
