Judge Denies David Fry Pretrial Release

By CONRAD WILSON • 4 HOURS AGO

... Despite pleas from Fry and his family, Senior District Judge Robert Jones ruled against the 27-year-old's appeal for release.

"I'm going to keep you in custody until trial," Jones said. "I look at you as a very vulnerable person. When you get into tight situations, you act out. That concerns me a lot" ...

At Monday's hearing, Fry said he had traveled to Oregon from his Ohio home to document the occupation led by Ammon and Ryan Bundy. He also said he decided to stay at the refuge after the Bundys were arrested because he was "the last cameraman" ...

In 2009, Fry's father — William Fry, Jr. — called to have his son hospitalized on a mental health evaluation. Fry said his son spent five days detained for the evaluation. David Fry acknowledged he attempted to escape once during the stay ...

The prisons are full of black and brown kids who never got mental health care they needed.

This prick is no more or less mentally ill than thousands of others locked up for relatively less serious crimes.

He doesn't seem any more mentally ill than any right wing republican. I hope he rots in jail.

we don't.

Therefore the idea that this one doofus criminal should be treated with more compassion than the thousands of mentally ill people in our prisons already is what I'm challenging.

I'm just trying to put my finger on what's different about dear young terrorist David.

Oh yeah, he's white.

He sounds nuts to me.

Maybe he wasn't one of them, but something's wrong when a person decides to drop everything going on in his life just to get involved with something like that train wreck fiasco in Malheur County.

He carried weapons. He made threats. He damaged public property. Him. He did it.

Why do people act like he is their nerdy cousin? He's a terrorist. He gets no sympathy from me and I'm glad the judge told him to f--k off.

What other terrorist ever got supervised release pending trial? Or mental health care?

F$&k him.
