Question inspired by House of Cards

A character on HoC said that he was a New York Republican, which is equivalent to saying he's a Democrat. That gave way to some provocative thought.

I happen to know someone from New York City who is strongly associated with the GOP, but she comes across like a Liberal. We do not talk politics, which is probably why we still enjoy each other's company to this day, but, I wonder if she is an example of what the show was pointing out.

That's what the mainstream Democratic party apparatus now embraces.

So, instead of Democrats and Republicans, we now, for all intents and purposes, have Republicans and Fascists to choose between.
