2. One of the greats

The first two Merle Haggard songs I heard were performed by Gram Parsons onstage in L.A. while he was with the Byrds back in '68. The audience response was lukewarm as I recall, and Parsons gave the audience a brief instructive lecture on why folks should be more appreciative of his music. Eventually people caught on. R.I.P.
