Postage stamps went down to 47 cents on Monday?

This was news to me. One of the "other duties" at my job.

I commented to the woman at the counter, "Why? Oh that's right they're trying to run you all out of business"
She replied, "They've been trying for years"
Me, "Like the health insurance thing"
She actually laughed and said, "yeah that was something special".

The poor Post Office can't catch a break.. UPS and FEDEX lobbyists work very very hard to keep the pressure on congress to impoverish Ben Franklin's achievement.

UPS and FedEx have said repeatedly that the simply can't go to every door everyday. UPS contracts with the USPS daily - for flights as well as remote drops it isn't worth UPS to go to. Gas and time are UPS'es nemesis. No left turns if they can help it.

When this was passed it was only supposed to be temporary, so it should not have been unexpected at the post office.

My mailman is totally on top of politics. Before Bernie even ran, we talked about the phony attempt to privatize, and the health care retirement issues.

But then my entire town is Bernie. It's agreat place to live in that respect.
