when somebody uses inadmissible language (or farts) the polite and proper thing to do is pretend you didn't hear. Isn't it about time for us on DU to adopt that standard?
Neither of our candidates is 1) a whore 2) a NAZI, 3) a racist, 4) incompetent, nor 5) perfect. And, so far as the first four are concerned, the other party cannot make the same claim.
So hey -- if a Democratic candidate farts, or says something we wish the candidate had not, let's pretend we didn't notice, OK?

My mother once pointed out that any woman who objected to harsh language around her was no lady since she'd obviously understood every word of it.
I'd like to point that out to the people who go around mortally offended by the shortcomings of people around them, that and the fact that there is no section of the constitution guaranteeing the right to go through life unoffended.
Plus, I'd always prefer enduring the occasional wince over consistent censorship by the thin skinned little flowers among us.

I do have a general aversion to vulgar name-calling, it adds nothing to the conversation. That said, I've been known to drop the occasional nasty; but each time I do, I still expect to look over my shoulder to find Mom coming at me with a bar of Ivory Soap.
Anyway, thanks for adding to the pleas for civility. Decency is something we can afford.
