where a dad puts on make-up, dons a dress with fairy wings, for his daughter's party?
I love it! and wise I had done something similar for BabyGirl 1SBM.

When Cruz nervously says, "Oh, really," it was the only moment so far where I connected with him on a human level, the only time I've had a laugh of recognition with Cruz instead of at him. How many of us Fathers have done something goofy like this, happy however that it stays between us and our daughters.
Of everything I'm grateful for in my life, getting old before YouTube was introduced ranks mighty high.

(10,336 posts)When I was a kid (I'm in my 50's now), my Dad used to pretend to be Mr. French for us (two boys and a girl). And Jinx the cat, too, and my brother and sister would be Pixie and Dixie. Good times, late 60's.
When that commercial first started airing, I only partially watched, and frankly I assumed it was going in a different direction (having to do with the transgender community). When I finally saw the whole commercial I was surprised. And of course it was done so heartwarmingly.

(27,995 posts)It reminds me of a dental appointment that I had on Halloween. My dentist walked into the exam room wearing a tutu, tights, wings and a styrofoam tooth on a headband. My dentist is the Dad of three little girls who had excitedly encouraged him to dress up as the Tooth Fairy for Halloween.

(50,566 posts)The men in particular just weren't that interested in the details of our lives. We didn't seem to register on their radar. One time when I was a teen I visited the family of my sister's friend. The dad was so nice and engaging. He asked us questions and seemed sincerely interested in us and ordered pizza for us. At first I thought he was messing with us! I was suspicious. Later when I figured out that he was the real deal and dads like that actually existed, it made me cry.

Worst part was that I couldn't find heels except about 5 sizes too small.
Some asshole professor posted my picture all over the department the next day.
