Am I the only person worried that attacks on Trump are achieving too much, too soon?

I think that Donald Trump would be significantly less likely to win the presidency than any other Republican candidate.

I also think that, if he were to win, he'd probably be less bad as a president than e.g. Cruz, Ryan or Rubio, although I'm less confident of that - Trump is unpredictable, whereas the others would be predictably bad.

It's looking increasingly likely that he's not going to win the nomination. And that's probably bad news for America.

So if you're looking for a Republican to focus on, can I recommend targeting Ted Cruz, and - nauseating though it may be - handling The Donald with kid gloves until June.

The only problem is Trump could win. He's already vowed to bring back torture. Trump is a very scary think Apr 2016 #1

There is no course that guarantees that a Republican won't win.

But I think the one that gives us the best odds is angling for a Trump primary victory.

As is a big portion of the Republican party. That is why they are pulling out all the stops to try to end his campaign. They recognize the exact same thing.

encouraged to spy on each other - first in a subtle way to listen and observe, then a hot line for a "heads up" on "suspicious" people who were heard being critical, being "un-American" - who might be a danger to the community.

I can visualize a block captain (appointed or self appointed "snitches&quot who keeps track of difficult people, i.e. those who aren't showing enough enthusiasm, etc.

I can see all this happening with Trump, for sure, as he will be very uneasy and especially paranoid when he takes office as there are already rumors that the military will refuse to carry out his commands - he will want to prove himself right away on that score by ferreting out these "traitors" and making a lesson of them.

and has recovered a bit from a dip in the past few days. He's leading comfortably in New York. Meanwhile, the chances of Democratic win are now up to 74%, according to that page.

A contested convention could well tear them apart, which might be good not only from the presidential point of view, but in other races (http://predictwise.com/politics/2016-congress-senate gives a 60% chance of Democratic control of the Senate, but I don't know how that's varied recently). If everyone laid off Trump, he might make it to the convention with a majority.

In reality, they love what he is saying, they are just embarrassed that anyone would say it.
They have but one goal, and that is power in whatever form it may take.
