4. Bundy's attorney says he got kicked out of a federal courtroom

BY HILLARY LAKE, KATU NEWS
SATURDAY, APRIL 16TH 2016

... Mike Arnold traveled to Las Vegas to support Bundy during the hearing, even though he can't represent Bundy in the Nevada case.

Arnold said he was sitting in the courtroom gallery .. when he got an emergency text message from his co-council in Oregon .. that he had to file a motion in the Oregon case by the end of business.

Arnold claims he used his cellphone to respond, and .. the marshal .. asked him to leave. Cellphones and laptop computers aren't allowed in .. most federal courtrooms.

"On the way out I had to make a record. I had to, unfortunately, interrupt the court and explain who I was, and that I was being ordered to leave. And, the reason I was being ordered to leave is because I was trying to do litigation in Oregon while helping my client in Nevada. That is why it's unjust to try two cases at once," Arnold told KATU News's sister station KSNV outside of the courthouse ...

It looks like the lawyer is as much of an asshole as his clients.

No one was preventing him from conducting his legal business. First, he was in the gallery, which means he wasn't working in that courtroom. And unless the courtroom is the size of an airport, he was no more than 30 seconds away from using his phone legally in the hallway.

Every time these clowns open their mouths, they embarrass themselves.

Well, we already know they're living in an alternate universe, where the laws of the United States don't apply. But they'e going to wake up one day in state prison wondering, wtf just happened.

It is the defendants' right to not enter a plea. The court entering a 'not-guilty' plea in that case is standard procedure IIRC.

It's kind of stupid, and the Bundys are obviously trying to string this out and turn it into an OJ-esque circus. I don't see that the national media really gives a shit now that the drama of the stand-off is over. They obviously have some local and vocal support, but nationally only real fanatics care.

There was an article in the NYT a few weeks ago about the terrorists who are confined to prisons in the US (as opposed to Guantanamo Bay). Included among these are the Unabomber, Terry Nichols (Oklahoma City) I think, Mussauwi and a handful of others, the Blind Sheikh of WTC 1993 fame, and others. People we have very properly forgotten exist (to say nothing of the various murderers who captured front page headlines while they were being sought. I'd like to think that the Bundy brothers and their followers carry on in this vein. Tried, convicted, sent away, and forgotten. I'd like to think the same of Sarah Palin, but, like your average zombie, she keeps rising up.

Brian Cavalier, Blaine Cooper and Ryan Payne also refused to offer pleas at the arraignment after, according to the Associated Press the defendants asked the court to read the charges against them verbatim, which took more than 90 minutes.

"I will not be entering a plea today," Cavalier said, according to the AP. The news outlet reported that instead Cavalier pulled out a small copy of the Constitution and gave it to federal prosecutors.

They have their own version of the constitution. Annotated by a CT. I'm sure the prosecutors were duly impressed.

Skousen, who once accused President Dwight D. Eisenhower of being a Soviet agent and whom Time magazine once labeled an “exemplar of the right-wing ultras,” pairs the original Constitutional text with quotes from Founding Fathers about the necessity of religion in governance.

Its message: The Founding Fathers intended the United States to be a Christian nation, beholden to a Christian god, and never intended the federal government to have any power over its people.
