Up the Bowman! Down with Moneybags!

I'm now beginning to understand the scene in The Hobbit in which Bard the Bowman becomes leader of Dale by acclamation after slaying the mighty dragon Smaug with a single arrow aimed precisely at the one weak spot in his armor. The city-state's previous leader was wealthy and did nothing about the threat Smaug posed. Clearly Tolkien was warning us about the dangers of Trump, Mittwit and their ilk running things.
