Utah Gov. Gary Herbert will sign a resolution declaring pornography a "public health crisis" at the Utah state capitol today.
The resolution was introduced by Republican state Senator Todd Weiler in January 2015, to battle the pornography epidemic harming the state and the country.
The resolution, which was passed last month, calls for increased education, prevention, research, and policy change at the community and societal level, to combat pornography. Anti-pornography group, the Utah Coalition Against Pornography posted on Facebook that the resolution signing marks a time to celebrate and recognize this historic moment.
Weiler maintains that the resolution is not a ban on porn or an attack on masturbation, but the first steps toward creating a plan to protect children and families from it.
And there it is. WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scratch a pompous finger-wagger, and often you will find a hypocrite, if not a dangerous criminal.

What it may mean about Utah in particular is they just have the highest rate of people who haven't yet figured out that you can find massive amounts of porn for free on the intertubes.

(18,470 posts)They couldn't give two shits in a bucket about people dying because of a lack of adequate insurance. Or people not knowing where they're next paycheck will come from. Or if they'll be able to keep a goddamn roof over their heads.
They get all worked up about shit like this so they can mount the soapbox about how moral they all are. While wide stancing it in a bathroom stall at the nearest airport.
I am so goddamned sick of it.

(6,199 posts)The air is hazy with porn. The water is polluted with porn, so pornified in fact that water in Magna is undrinkable. The refineries are spewing their usual porn. There are homeless porning the streets, and Utah is #1 in prescription porn abuse.
I'm so glad they decided to address this pressing health crisis that is so plaguing the state.

Least that is what I learned when the great DU porn wars were happening awhile back.

(80,708 posts)Maybe when Sticky Ricky Santorum couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge his own previous proposals to outlaw nude pictures, but instead ran the other way as fast as he could, the writing on the wall became apparent.
There's simply too many yottabytes out there, now, of nude pictures of Veronika Zemanova and Aria Giovanni and all sorts of enthusiastic couplings of all varieties, for anyone to ever successfully put a stop to all the porn-enabled masturbating they don't like. They're NEVER gonna get rid of it, any more than anyone is going to get rid of pot smoking. Even for the few people at Wheelock College who still think it's a good idea, "stopping" porn is a physical impossibility.
Yeah, for that crowd, It's gotta be REAL frustrating.
