(11,362 posts)If he wins the nomination, and starts spouting the Republican Party line, the party "moderates" might actually rally behind him.

I could be very wrong, but I believe your scenario is highly likely. God help us if you are right. The Repubs I know and many of the independents will crawl across broken glass to vote against Clinton.

(6,115 posts)I'm not a RW anything, and I do not troll. I've also been here almost as long as you, since 2005 with this username.
But I live in NC so I know a lot of Repubs. A lot of the saner ones are scared of Trump and Cruz, and they don't really like Kasich either. But they really don't like Clinton. They will vote against her just as I will vote against all of the GOP candidates.
Sanders is barely on their radar. As a result, they don't hate him like Clinton, but they wouldn't vote for him either.

(3,825 posts)He is a staunch Republican if there ever was one. I doubt if Dean can even say the word "Democrat". But he told my mother last week before the primary, that he will be voting for Hillary. She almost dropped her teeth. This is what is happening inside the real Republican's minds, not the ones that are spouting along with Donald and Ted's great adventure. These are the thinking, reasoning ones and they know what they don't want. After I heard this, I'm not worried. Too much water under the bridge too far.

(82,849 posts)Yeah, I don't quite know why, either.
That puts a lot in perspective for me. I like the numbers.
